Salty and Pepper

Many of you may know my new cats already but I thought I'd introduce them properly. Salty and Pepper are sisters that I adopted from my Peace Corps friend Jonathon right before he left to go back to America. Salty had three kittens that I found homes for just recently. This is the first week without them and it's a bit of a transition for everyone but most of all it means nap time - finally - for Salty.

The Flood

This year’s flood has come early and strong. What was once a clearly defined ribbon of a meandering river is now an overflow of shallow ponds. The water is slowly rising ever closer to my bottom fence line and in just a couple of weeks I’ll have the river in my yard.

Goodbye Kittens

Today is a sad day. I've just taken Salty’s last two kittens to their new home. At least they are together which is nice. I must admit I’ve been looking forward to this day for while now. No more kittens peeing on my bed. No more kitten barf on my couch. But now that it’s here I can’t help but be sad and worried about their departure. Now it’ll be just Salty and her sister Pepper.
