Brooklyn Cats

My cats used to scramble with African wild cats. They used to hunt francolins and lizards. Now they live in 350 sq feet and watch birds on YouTube. It's a quieter life, but I think they still enjoy it.

Mpls

In Minneapolis I had dinner at the Governor's house. My lovely Grandmother, below, is Mark Dayton's aunt.

I was in Minneapolis visiting family and this tree fell over in front of my cousin's house.

Pepper Time

I love weekends. I love my cats. I love instant coffee and low brow tv. I love it when all these things come together on a lazy weekend morning. Pepper and I are catching up on Ready For Love together.

JNB

Dawn over the JNB terminal A. What does it mean when you know more than a dozen airport codes?

Sleepless in Joburg...

Caught the last five minutes of Sleepless in Seatle very early this morning.

Joburg

I really enjoy the layover between Joburg and Maun. I stay at the airport hotel, have a nice dinner, shower, and make myself Nespresso in the morning. A last bit of luxury before dusty Botswana.

Bullet learns about the elevator

Bullet: My New Dog

This is my recently adopted dachshund, Bullet. He's 9 years old and I brought him to NYC from Botswana. He enjoys cuddling, chewing on rawhide, peeing on stuff (outside), and trying to convince me that he needs more food. I adore him!

Picnic: the Reuben

Picnic: John's Reuben with Mexican Coke

So yummy! John makes everything from scratch - rye bread, Russian dressing, brisket, sauerkraut, and local cheese.

PDX: Flowers

Turn On Your Love Light

PDX: Donuts

Katy and I picked up half a dozen to sample as a substitute for lunch. We ate them at John's food cart while he made bread. The yummiest one was glazed salted caramel.
