Goat Update
So late last year I decided to stay in Maun, Botswana. I want to experiment with making goat cheese and my neighbors are letting me milk their goats. The herd needs to be vaccinated and dewormed before I can start thinking about milking. A few females will likely kid in early April so I'll only start milking them two or three weeks after that happens. I'm very excited to get to know this herd and my neighbors.

Mopipi's Farm
I visited my gardener's farm last week to learn how to milk cows in preparation for milking goats. The techniques are very different but I want to get a head start. Mopipi was not very impressed with my efforts though and I think I have a way to go yet. I did get a chance to see his bucket of sour milk which he keeps in his hut. It's very nutritious and he eats quite a bit of it every day.
Herb Garden
I've started a little herb garden on my back porch. I'm growing coriander, parsley, purple basil, dill, thyme, chives, and some flowers. I usually kill plants slowly with not so loving attention or I just bring goats home and they disappear in one go. If any of these plants survive long enough for me to start using them in my kitchen I will be very proud of myself. Or Mopipi.
